Performance is user experience. Period. If your curriculum doesn't teach performance, it's failing you.
Common Mistakes
- Shipping massive JS bundles: The average site ships 500kb+ of parsed JS.
- No image optimization: Serving 5MB JPEGs instead of WebP/AVIF.
- Render-blocking resources: Putting synchronous scripts in the head.
Core Web Vitals
LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): Should be < 2.5s.
INP (Interaction to Next Paint): Should be < 200ms.
CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift): Should be < 0.1.
